Game News: Spyro Reignited Trilogy
After a long time waiting our favorite purple dragon is finally back! That’s right if you did not hear Spyro is back and remastered, and best of all the game is on both Xbox and PS4 so no one has exclusive rights to play this great game! Spyro remastered was finally released, a little over schedule, in mid-November and is ready to get back to fighting. This game was remastered by “Toys for Bob” and released by Activision. The best thing about this news what that not only do you get one Spyro game but you get three! The Spyro reignited trilogy comes with “Spyro the Dragon”, “Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage”, and “Sypro: Year of the Dragon”.
For those who are not familiar with the Spyro games, you control Spyro the dragon on a fun filled adventure where you fight evil magic to save your fellow dragons.
In “Spyro the Dragon” Spyro, and his dragonfly friend, Sparx, venture through the dragon kingdom to rescue the other dragons from a spell placed by Gnasty Gnorc. The game is an open-ended 3D platformer, with large levels that require you to use Spyro’s abilities to fight enemies, solve puzzles, and save the dragons who are crystalized (his soaring ability definitely comes in handy). In order to progress through the game you must find collectables like the dragons, gemstones, and dragon eggs.
In the second Spyro Game you once again control Spyro the Dragon fighting enemies with his dragon abilities. You are partnered by Sparx again and this time he is the symbol of your health, health can be regained by Sparx eating butterflies. This game is split into three worlds that you must progress through by acquiring talismans and orbs. The orbs also play another fun role in the game, but I will let you play it to find that out, keep an eye out for Moneybags!
Spyro: Year of the dragon was one of, if not the, favorite for me in this series. You travel through a myriad of worlds either finding dragon eggs or completing tasks to be awarded them. You need to collect dragon eggs to progress to other worlds. This game also introduced new characters as well as some new characters that you can control for a limited time, Hunter the Cheetah might be my favorite (though he was in Ripto’s Rage too). The main enemies of the game are the sorceress and Bianca the Rabbit and their Rhynok army. The music for this game was also amazing and was produced by Stewart Copeland who is the drummer for The Police. Be sure to check out the secret speedway challenges in this game, they were always my favorite.
Overall I am super excited that these games have finally been remastered and rereleased, I am also super happy that the games were released on Xbox as well since that is the console I use. It will be a good dose of nostalgia for us to relive our early video game lives as Spyro the Dragon.
